Liverpool, Tottenham and Newcastle have all come under intense criticism recently, but Southampton appear to be doing things the right way.
The former three all decided to put their staff on furlough, meaning that the government would pay 80% of their wages whilst they were not working during the current pandemic, and some questioned why they chose to do so considering they have large amounts of cash and rich owners. Whilst the Reds did reverse their decision soon after, the damage had already been done for some.
The Saints, though, have announced that they will not be using the retention scheme in regards to any of their staff, whilst the players and coaching team will defer their wages for the next three months in order to help out. As you can imagine, that has gone down fantastically amongst the supporters of the south-coast club, and you can see some of the best comments from social media platform Twitter below.
