Our Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern aren’t sure how this season is going to end, nor do they know what the future holds.
The Gunners have been put through the mill once again in recent times and it could just prove that this year is the last in Arsene Wenger’s reign.
Whether or not that happens remains to be seen but you do get the feeling with the side from north London that regardless of whatever happens with Wenger, changes are afoot.
Certainly, something needs to be switched about at the club if they are to return to the top of the Premier League and our landlord has been thinking about what their future side could look like.
With the rumours circulating at the moment it could be an exciting line-up, too, and so here is the possible XI the club could have in five years time…
GK: Joe Hart

The Gunners are linked with Hart and he could be their next top ‘keeper. He’ll be getting on by then but should be a good presence to have over the next few years.
RB: Hector Bellerin

Bellerin is already top drawer and will be bang in his prime in five years time. Arsenal will have to fight to keep hold of him, you feel, but he should be their first choice for years to come.
CB: Shkodran Mustafi

Mustafi is 24-years-old at the moment and will be one of the club’s senior statesmen when this time comes around. He’ll be hoping to have been part of a successful period during this time, too.
CB: Rob Holding

Holding has impressed when he has played this season and could be one for the future. He certainly seems to have the edge over Calum Chambers at the moment.
LB: Ben Chilwell

Arsenal and Liverpool are currently going after the young left back and the Gunners will be hoping that they win the race. He’ll be well-established in five years and should be at a top club.
CDM: Miralem Pjanic

Pjanic is a very talented footballer and could be the ideal man to replace Santi Cazorla. He’s been linked with a move recently by Italian newspaper Tuttosport (via The Independent.)
CDM: Francis Coquelin

Coquelin could be a key part of the Arsenal side over the seasons to come. He reads the game well and if he can just step up another level he’ll be a top midfielder.
RAM: Yannick Carrasco

Carrasco is a very talented attacker and would certainly be the kind of player to win Arsenal multiple trophies. He’d enjoy his best years over this period at the club and The Sun have reported recent Gunners interest.
CAM: Lorenzo Insigne

Calciomercato journalist Nicolo Schira has said that Arsenal are scouting Insigne. He’s been on fire this season and could be the ideal man to take over from Mesut Ozil.
LAM: Alex Iwobi

There’s very high hopes over Alex Iwobi amongst our local Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern. In five years we’ll know exactly where his career has gone with the club.
ST: Alexandre Lacazette

Arsenal are going to need a new striker with Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez going to be well into their 30’s by this point. Lacazette could be the answer, then, with him linked by The Sun with the club.
