Sheffield United: Fans discuss club tweets celebrating Blades’ League One victory

Many Sheffield United supporters reacted to tweets from the club’s official account showing the first team celebrating their famous League One title victory, as Wednesday marked three years to the day since the Blades were crowned champions of the English third tier.

Following six long years in the lower division, local hero Chris Wilder guided his side to the top of the table, winning the league with 100 points.

The South Yorkshire outfit comfortably won the title with three games to spare after second-placed Bolton Wanderers slumped to a 1-0 defeat away to Oldham (Sky Sports).

Fan favourite Billy Sharp finished the 2016/2017 season with a staggering tally of 30 goals from 46 games, and was named the EFL League One Player of the Year (Sky Sports).

Backed by the bank balance of Prince Abdullah bin Musa’ad, the Blades are currently enjoying life in the upper echelons of the Premier League, with European football firmly within their reach.

Given the responses so far, it is fair to say most fans will never forget the famous victory. One supporter dubbed the pictures as “legendary scenes” and another gleefully remembered the team “just steamrolled sides week in week out home and away.”
