Lys Mousset was the match-winner for the Blades, scoring after half an hour to send them ninth in the league table (BBC Sport).
But another big reason for their victory was an outstanding defensive performance. Indeed, they managed to keep a fourth clean sheet of the season (Transfermarkt), and Chris Basham played a starring role for Chris Wilder’s side.
The former Blackpool and Bolton Wanderers man was outstanding and won four aerial duels, made four clearances, four successful tackles and three interceptions in the 90 minutes (via WhoScored).
Basham has been at Bramall Lane since 2014, and has been a regular for them as they have won promotion from League One and the Championship. He has made a total of 249 appearances during his time at the club, scoring 14 goals and providing 10 assists (via Transfermarkt).
Having been part of a hugely successful team, the 31-year-old has become a firm fans favourite at Sheffield United. And many supporters were quick to praise the defender after his stats from the Arsenal game were posted on the Blades’ official Twitter account…
Brilliant bash. Absolute immense for the Blades.
