Sheffield United have made a solid start to life in the Premier League, picking up nine points from their opening eight fixtures.
The Blades were only promoted from the Championship last season, but have so far held their own in the top flight. Their defensive record is particularly impressive, having conceded just seven goals so far – only Liverpool have shipped less with six (via BBC Sport).
However, the one thing they may need to improve if they are to stay up is how many goals they score. As it stands, they are the fourth-lowest scorers in the division having netted just seven times so far.
The likes of Oliver McBurnie, Callum Robinson and David McGoldrick have all started games recently, but between them they have managed to score just twice. Lys Mousset has had his fair share of game time from the bench, but he has also managed just one goal.
Another striker in their squad who has had significantly less game time is Billy Sharp, who has so far played just 83 minutes of Premier League football. However, some Sheffield United fans think he may be the answer to their goalscoring woes.
The 33-year-old certainly has a reputation of being prolific in front of goal, and the stats back that up. He has netted 239 goals in his career so far and was the Blades’ top goalscorer last season with 24.
Sheffield United supporters think that he is their most natural finisher, and several are calling for him to be in the starting line-up when they take on Arsenal in their next Premier League outing…
Need to change team abit, put sharp and mousett upfront together

Why not, Sharp and Mousset for me! Others have had a chance, let’s try something new & get the others fired up to get out there. #twitterblades

Billy and didzy for me. New boys have shown glimpses but none have really nailed it to such an extent as to drop such great performers from last season.

Wouldn’t mind seeing Billy and LM starting. Moose is a machine and Billy Sharp scores goals. That said Billy and Didzy worked wonders last year so if fit that could work as non of other partnerships have been prolific so far. Overall think we’re OK defensively but we need goals!

Billy has experience, as a goalscorer. Give him the service and he will bag em up. He’s a player who should be first on the team sheet. #WeBelieveInBillySharp here in this part of Sheffield. Keep the faith.
