Sheffield Wednesday: Fans hammer Joost van Aken versus Barnsley

Lots of Sheffield Wednesday fans have been hammering Joost van Aken after his very poor display versus Barnsley in their EFL Championship clash.

Several members of the Hillsbrough faithful have argued that the 26 year-old was at fault for at least one if not both goals for Barnsley in the first half which saw Tony Pulis’ team go 2-1 behind at the break.

His performance was so bad that the manager decided to haul him off at half time, which was probably for the good of the side.

A central defender by trade, van Aken was used at left-back by Pulis and it showed that it was not his natural position.

The Dutchman failed to record a key pass, cross or accurate long ball in the first half, and also lost possession of the ball no fewer than on eight separate occasions (Sofascore).
