Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are excited to see who Marco Silva and Marcel Brands will bring to the club in the summer transfer window.
Our regulars are hoping to watch some good football at Goodison Park next season after enduring a dismal spell under Sam Allardyce’s leadership. Silva was recently announced as his replacement and arrives with a reputation for attacking football. He has a huge task on his hands to return the Toffees to the top four.
While the Blues wait for the new season, they have the 2018 World Cup to focus on. Hosts Russia kicked off the tournament in exceptional fashion, running out 5-0 winners against Saudi Arabia. The result ended a run of seven games without a win.
The star of the show was CSKA Moscow man – Aleksandr Golovin – who would be a terrific signing on Merseyside. Valued at £16.2m by Transfermarkt, the 22-year-old scored a free-kick and picked up two assists in the opening group game. He scored seven goals and notched six assists in all competitions for Moscow last season.
A centre midfielder by trade, his performances at the World Cup will no doubt boost interest in his services. Signing Golovin is the perfect replacement for Wayne Rooney and would provide Gylfi Sigurdsson with some much-needed competition.
The Russian is still young and has his best years ahead of him; he would prove to be a great piece of business by the Blues.
Everton fans, thoughts?
