Leeds United will be hoping for a strong January transfer window to keep their promotion hopes alive.
The winter window is the make or break for any team who are hopeful of achieving something that season – be it survival, promotion, or qualification for Europe.
Manager Marcelo Bielsa will certainly be looking to reinforce his squad which has been ravaged by injury recently, in the coming months, with the likes of Pablo Hernandez, Kemar Roofe, Patrick Bamford, Luke Ayling, Jamie Shackleton, and more, all sitting out on the sideline.
He’ll especially want to avoid another dip in form that coincides with key players being injured.
With that in mind, here are two players Leeds United should look at to help their promotion push…
Daniel James
Leeds are interested in signing Swansea winger Daniel James this January, according to Wales Online.
The young Welshman would provide quality cover for Pablo Hernandez who has already spent two months on the sideline this season.
James’ pace and attacking threat is exactly what the Argentine needs going into the second half of the season, especially if players begin to fatigue.
He’s reacted very well to the physicality and aggressiveness of the league, earning himself a call up to Ryan Giggs’ Wales side in the process. And we’re sure he’d be a hit in West Yorkshire, and potentially the Premier League.
James Bree
Defender James Bree is definitely worth looking at, even on a loan basis.
His experience playing in the Championship for Aston Villa means Bielsa doesn’t have to take a risky gamble on Premier League youngster. And his position, at full-back, is an area of the pitch Leeds United are seriously struggling in.
Bree is very much available after falling down the pecking order under Dean Smith, who prefers Elmohamady or Hutton ahead of him.
