It is set to be a nervy end to the transfer window for Southampton both in terms of potential arrivals and departures.
The Saints could really do with bringing in a centre-forward before tomorrow’s deadline.
The lack of goals scored up front last season would have been a huge concern for manager Mark Hughes and the Southampton faithful and, with this yet to be addressed, some at St. Mary’s may be fearing the worst for the upcoming campaign.
Meanwhile, the possible exit of a club youth product is something that will also be on the mind of Saints supporters ahead of deadline day.
According to the Daily Mail, Watford have offered Southampton £10m for midfielder James Ward-Prowse as they look to bolster their options in the middle of the park.
At Southampton, though, central midfield is arguably the strongest area of the squad and it would be bizarre to risk weakening it so close to the transfer window’s conclusion by selling £16.2m-rated (via Transfermarkt) Ward-Prowse to Watford.
