Some Southampton fans have torn into Sofiane Boufal following his latest performance for the club on Twitter, with many of them far from happy with what they saw from him.
Despite the Saints managing to overcome Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup third round on Saturday afternoon, a plethora of the club’s faithful ripped into the Morrocan on the social media network.
The £9m-rated winger (as per TransferMarkt) has had a difficult time at the St. Mary’s Stadium in recent seasons, having spent time out on loan, however it appears he has been given a new lease of life under Ralph Hasenhuttl.
Boufal has played in 17 matches for the Saints across all competitions and has managed to provide his team-mates with two assists in those appearances.
However, many fans had felt that he had the perfect opportunity to step up his recent performances against Huddersfield but it seems some of them were left disappointed with what they saw from the 26-year-old.
Here are just some of their reactions to his performance…
Boufal was very disappointing for me as he created nothing. I thought Che was ok but with lazy support from Boufal he won’t get any supply up front

I think Che is prem quality, those around him weren’t today. But Needs an Ings injury if he wants a chance. 2 good goals, that was it. Prowse and Long looked 10x the intensity of the players lacking match fitness. Boufal may as well have sat down still instead of wandering around

Boufal has only ever flattered twice. Sunderland and WBA goals. That’s it.

Positives: Decent win, kids both scored and looked half decent
Meh’s: Adams poor, Boufal flattered to deceive, Vestergaard & Romeu prove Ralph right on Prem selection. #SaintsFC— Glen de la Cour (leagueoneminus10) (@L1minus10) January 4, 2020
Ok, it’s the Cup but #saintsfc squad players cant squander their opportunities in the 1st team. Romeu is TOO negative with the ball, Danso did well. Vestergaard should find another job – he ISNT a footballer. Young lads did brilliant. This game was there for Boufal, but he failed

My take – JV KDan are extremely poor. Smallbone and Vokins clearly not ready. Boufal looks poor again. Che looks very amateur to me.Really want him to come good but can’t see it. Seemed to be in the wrong place making wrong runs all game. Good feedoff the second though. MOM JWP.
