Southampton fans were yesterday given the news that their Dutch defender Wesley Hoedt has been sent out on loan to Celta Vigo. The club announced the news on Twitter and the fans are delighted. Ralph Hasenhuttl obviously didn’t fancy the 24-year-old defender, and now he’ll be sent to aid Celta Vigo’s relegation battle instead of the Saints.

The Dutch defender signed for Southampton in summer 2017 and was part of the Saints side that beat the drop last season after Mark Hughes came in and somehow kept them up. However, Hughes has also now been axed and now that Hasenhuttl has come in the South coast club have more positivity about them, and that feeling has only grown now that he’s sent their liability defender away.
Hoedt had been a staple of the Saints team up until Hughes was sacked, and in the last six games under their new gaffer, he’s failed to even make a matchday squad. The writing has been on the wall for the ex-Lazio man, and the Southampton fans are all buzzing now that the 24-year-old has been sent out on loan, with the hope that he may make that loan permanent when the summer window comes around.

Good riddance. Nightmare on and off the pitch! Poor player not premier league standard.

Obviously RH could tell from a mile away he wasn’t adequate. Anyway let’s sign someone.

The Saints are delighted to be rid of Hoedt for the rest of the season and they’ll be hoping he’s played his last match as a Southampton player.
