According to Adam Blackmore, Southampton have pulled out of the race to sign Ainsley Maitland-Niles on loan from Arsenal.
Maitland-Niles deal to Saints off
The Saints had been linked with a move for the midfielder, but things now appeared to have changed according to Blackmore.

He says that the club have become increasingly frustrated in negotiations with his representatives and so they will now focus on other targets.
Disappointing
This is no doubt a blow to Ralph Hasenhuttl. With 121 appearances for the Gunners (Transfermarkt) and three England caps to his name, the £16.2m-rated Maitland-Niles could have brought plenty of quality to St. Mary’s Stadium between now and the end of the campaign. Able to play in midfield and in either full-back position, he has the versatility that would be useful to any boss.

With just a few hours left between now and the end of the window, Hasenhuttl must go back to the drawing board as he looks to improve his squad.
In other news, this 21-year-old could move to another English club for the rest of the campaign.
