According to Sky Sports (Transfer Centre, 08.52), Southampton will not be signing Billy Gilmour from Chelsea on loan on Deadline Day.
Saints not getting Gilmour
The 19-year-old had been linked with a deadline day loan move to St. Mary’s Stadium, with his future up potentially up in the air after the arrival of new manager Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge.

However, given the number of clubs interested in Gilmour, as well as the possibility that he could remain in south-west London, it appears that it will be difficult for Ralph Hasenhuttl to capture him.
Blow
With Champions League experience to his name as a teenager, Gilmour could have been a fantastic last-day capture for the Saints. He has also been previously compared to Paul Gascoigne (Off the Ball podcast via The Daily Record). Unfortunately, it looks like Hasenhuttl will have to look elsewhere if he wants midfield reinforcements.

The links to Arsenal’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles remain, so there is every chance they could bring in one more player before the deadline passes – still, they will have to move quickly to get any deal done.
