Tottenham Hotspur have opened talks with defender Japhet Tanganga over a new contract, that is according to a report from the Daily Mail.
It is suggested that the deal will see the 20-year-old up his wages from £1,000-per-week to around £15,000-per-week, meaning he would get a huge 1500% pay rise.
Added to that, there will also be lucrative incentives within the contract which could take his earnings closer to £20,000-per-week and a promise of another new deal if he makes a certain amount of first-team appearances.
Tanganga has burst onto the scene of late, with Jose Mourinho surprising everyone when he handed him his Premier League debut against Liverpool back in January. Since then he has gone on to start six of their last eight games in all competitions, including their most recent match against Southampton in the FA Cup (Transfermarkt).
In the Premier League alone his performances have been very good so far. Indeed he is averaging 6.3 clearances, 3.7 tackles and 2.0 interceptions per game whilst also helping the team to two clean sheets in three games (SofaScore).

Whilst most Spurs fans are delighted that Tanganga could extend his stay at the club, many actually think that he should be offered more than £15,000-per-week and believe that Daniel Levy is underpaying the youngster. Here is what some had to say on Twitter…
pay him what he is worth…
