Everton supporters have been drowning their sorrows in the Transfer Tavern in the last few days after seeing their side go down 5-1 at Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday, thus falling to an 11th league loss of the campaign.
Sam Allardyce’s men went into their clash with the Gunners off the back of beating Leicester City 2-1 in midweek, in what was their first league victory of the New Year. Yet the Toffees were unable to back that up as they were battered by Arsene Wenger’s side at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, with an Aaron Ramsey hat-trick as well as strikes from Laurent Koscielny and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang securing a comprehensive win for the hosts, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s second half effort nothing more than a consolation for the travelling Evertonians.
Subsequently, there have been many angry Toffees fans in the Tavern in recent times, several of whom are already trying to forget about Saturday’s horror show and are instead focusing on their crucial home clash with Crystal Palace this weekend.
In the meantime though, there has been plenty for our resident Everton supporters to get their teeth into, not least recent reports suggesting that former boss Ronald Koeman is set to take over as Netherlands manager.
The 54-year-old was sacked as Toffees chief back in October this year after overseeing a poor start to the season, with his final game a 5-2 thumping at the hands of Arsenal at Goodison Park on October 23, a result which saw them slip into the Premier League’s bottom three.
Nonetheless, the former Southampton and Feyenoord boss looks set for a return to management with the Dutch national team, in news which has provoked quite a response from Everton supporters on Twitter…
So both Koeman and Martinez cant manage Everton Football Club but they both land national team managers jobs……is it the players?
