Our Stoke fans here in the Transfer Tavern are fairly happy with this season so far but want to see some serious business in January to help them kick on.
They may be about to receive their wish, too, with The Stoke Sentinel highlighting the club’s interest in Manolo Gabbiadini and comments made recently by Potters’ boss Mark Hughes about a potential move for the striker.
The Welshman has seen his side turn their fortunes around from a sluggish start this season to being genuine contenders for the European spots but our landlord thinks they need extra firepower.
The club seems to have had the same thought process, too, with the Napoli man apparently on his list.
When asked directly about the Italian striker and another target; Davie Selke, Hughes would not rule out a move for either. He said:
“There’s nothing definite with those names or any others.
“One of them is available on loan, maybe, if the club thinks it’s a viable option.”
So, nothing definite right now but there certainly seems to be interest in the forward on the former Blackburn Rovers boss’ behalf.
Gabbiadini has good experience at being at the sharp end of Serie A and may provide a decent option, according to our landlord, in place of Wilfried Bony who has struggled to settle on loan with the club.
