According to The Shields Gazette, Sunderland are scouting Croatian international defender Domagoj Vida amongst growing anxiety Lamine Kone will leave in the near future.
Our local Black Cats fans here in the Transfer Tavern are just as concerned about the centre-half leaving.
He was one of the best players last year despite only joining in January as he helped the club stay up with some mammoth performances at the back but this season has been far different.
Sunderland have not won a game this season in the league and Kone simply does not look interested in playing for the club.
David Moyes, then, is reportedly looking at Vida as a contingency plan. The centre-half plays for Dynamo Kiev and has featured in the Champions League for the Ukrainian side with Sunderland sending scouts to their tie against Benfica earlier this week.
Sunderland head to Bournemouth this weekend knowing even a win would not get them out of the bottom three.
Would Vida be an ideal replacement for Kone Sunderland fans? Let us know below…
