Sunderland make big decision as Championship beckons

According to The Daily Mail, the Premier League’s bottom club Sunderland are getting rid of staff members with the report hinting it could be coming as preparation for life in the Championship.

Our resident Black Cats fans here in the Transfer Tavern are certainly worried that that could be the reason, especially as they already well adrift of safety and not looking like winning a game any time soon.

Indeed, the north-east side have not won under David Moyes in the league this season and have made the joint worst start in the top flight since it was re-branded in 1992, so there is very little to shout about right now.

The report suggests it is those that work in admin at the club that have been shown the door indicating they are trying to save money ahead of a pinch they would be dealt should they go down.

Clearly, there could be other reasons afoot, though it’s not indicative of a club on the up at the very least.

The club travel to Bournemouth at the weekend as they look to get out of this dire run.
