The West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that Slaven Bilic will be able to solve a few problems at the London Stadium this summer…
The Croatian manager has turned West Ham’s season around over the last few weeks, and whilst a relegation battle looked to be on the horizon at the London Stadium this season – the West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern are now dreaming of a top half finish.
It has been a season of problems and fallouts at West Ham, and Bilic has done well to come out of the other side – but one outstanding issue still remains.
West Ham have had a real issue defensively in recent years, with the right-back spot proving difficult to fill for Slaven Bilic. A number of players have been tried in the role, and Michail Antonio has done well as a wing-back when called upon – but it is time for Bilic to recruit a long-term solution.
With that said, surely 1 of these 2 right-backs would sort out West Ham’s long-running problem…
Carl Jenkinson

Carl Jenkinson isn’t ever going to be a starter at Arsenal, especially with Hector Bellerin ahead of him, and so a sale makes a lot of sense from Arsenal’s perspective.
Jenkinson has already spent a couple of spells at West Ham, of course, with the young defender gaining experience with the Hammers in recent seasons.
In terms of what he would offer Slaven Bilic, he would be a long-term solution with a background in the Premier League. He would be perfect.
Matteo Darmian

Matteo Darmian has had a tough time at Man Utd.
Immediately after joining the club, the defender was thrust into the first team and impressed – but he hasn’t really hit those heights since. 2016 was, for the most part, a poor year for him – and whilst Mourinho has utilised him somewhat in recent weeks, it is unlikely that the Portuguese boss will ever see him as a regular starter.
At West Ham he would undoubtedly get the opportunity that he craves, and he would offer an offensively stellar yet defensively solid option on the right-hand side of the West Ham defence.
