Surely 1 of these 4 midfielders should join Spurs in January

The general feeling here in the Transfer Tavern is that Spurs need new players and quickly.

Whilst they did do business in the summer most of their signings have underwhelmed according to our Lilywhites fans here by the bar and that isn’t good enough, as their humiliating Champions League exploits this season highlighted.

Vincent Janssen and Moussa Sissoko have not done anywhere near enough to nail down a first-team spot, whilst Georges-Kevin N’koudou is still evidently adapting to the league.

The only successful signing has been Victor Wanyama from Southampton and so Mauricio Pochettino must be lining up deals for new players in January.

Our landlord certainly thinks he needs to as, whilst they’re not out of the title race yet, their serious lack of squad depth, if not addressed, could leave them trailing behind everyone else.

Here, then, are four midfielders that Poch should at least sign one of when the window opens…

 Morgan Schneiderlin

The Frenchman was one of the best deep lying midfielders in the league when he was at Southampton, but since his move to Manchester United, it has been easy to forget that.

He’s struggled to nail down a place in the side, particularly currently under Jose Mourinho and so Pochettino should seriously consider a bid. He’d almost definitely improve Spurs’ options in the centre of the park.

 Isco

The Spaniard is in and out of the Real Madrid side when he could be playing far more regularly for a team like Tottenham.

Spurs have some good midfielders but none of them have really been able to show they can dictate the tempo of a game.

In that sense they only really have one speed and that makes them predictable so bringing in the former Malaga man would allow them to switch things up.

 Arda Turan

Arda is a top player when he’s playing and that is the sticking point for him right now with Barcelona.

He can’t get in the Catalans’ side and stay there with the only opportunities he gets coming from injuries to other stars.

He could do a great job for a team like Spurs, though, who are looking for the kind of players that know how to deal with a Champions League campaign and succeed in it.

 Gylfi Sigurdsson

Sigurdsson has already been at Spurs once and you have to say he’s far too good to be fighting relegation with Swansea City right now.

The Icelandic international is performing out of his skin to help them try and get results and players like Christian Eriksen could learn from that right now.

He’d surely relish the chance to get back in the Spurs side and prove himself once again.
