Surely 1 of these 4 midfielders should join West Ham in January

Here in the Football Transfer Tavern, the West Ham fans leaning by the bar have been highly critical of boss Slaven Bilic this season…

The Hammers are looking poor at the moment, and in truth – a few of the more cynical Hammers in the Tavern have touted their side for relegation this season.

That possibility is a very real one, and whilst it does not bare thinking about from a West Ham point of view – it is something that Slaven Bilic needs to consider.

Our landlord thinks that West Ham’s failure to improve their team over the summer is the main reason for their poor form, and he feels that a complete rebuild is needed in January – with the West Ham midfield looking particularly poor.

With that said, surely 1 of these 4 midfielders should join West Ham in January…

 Morgan Schneiderlin

Morgan Schneiderlin would be an audacious target – but what a signing he would.

It hasn’t really happened for the French midfielder at Old Trafford, and with Jose Mourinho seemingly not prepared to give him a shot in the first team – it seems likely that his Man Utd career could be over.

West Ham have struggled in the middle of the park this season, and if Mourinho is ready to sell – West Ham could benefit greatly.

At Southampton, Schneiderlin was unstoppable – and if he can regain that form he could transform the Hammers.

 Cesc Fabregas

Nobody would have predicted this one at the start of the season.

Cesc Fabregas is undoubtedly one of Europe’s best, but given his lack of game time at Stamford Bridge as of late – a move away is looking increasingly likely.

West Ham would be a good option for him as not only could they offer him a decent wage, but the prospect of remaining in London could be enticing for the World Cup winner.

What a coup this would be.

 Geoffrey Kondogbia

Geoffrey Kondogbia is seemingly the name on the lips of everyone in the Tavern – and it is easy to see why.

It hasn’t really happened for him in Serie A – and a move away looks near guaranteed.

West Ham have lacked a dominant force in the midfield, and Kondogbia would fill that gap perfectly.

A strong, powerful ball-winning midfielder – Kondogbia could be a great signing as Bilic looks to add a bit of fight into the West Ham first team.

 John Obi Mikel

Mikel

John Obi Mikel’s Chelsea contract expires at the end of the season – so West Ham would be able to get him for very cheap in January.

Whilst not a particularly exciting player, Mikel has the experience and know-how owing to his near decade-long run at Stamford Bridge – and that could be vital for West Ham.

He is one of the Premier League’s most consistent players – and whilst West Ham look to secure safety, consistency is exactly what they need.
