If there’s one thing we’ve learned about Tottenham in recent weeks it’s that they are still hugely reliant on Harry Kane getting their goals, and for our Lilywhites fans here in the Transfer Tavern, that won’t do.

The men from White Hart Lane felt in the summer that they needed another goal-scorer and moved to address that in signing Vincent Janssen from AZ Alkmaar, but he has failed to impress and so they are largely still in the same place as they were last year.

Indeed, with Kane out injured earlier in this campaign Tottenham began to accrue a number of draws without his goals whilst in his first two games back he has found the net three times.

If he gets a fitness issue again this season, Spurs could be in real trouble and our landlord reckons Mauricio Pochettino has to act to avoid such an eventuality.

That in mind, then, here are four strikers of whom at least one should be signed by the club…

Sandro Ramirez

The Sun reckon Spurs could go for the striker who moved to Malaga from Barcelona recently and it may prove a signing that becomes a bargain for the club.

Their signing of Janssen suggests that the club and Mauricio Pochettino would rather take a punt on a cheaper player than go all in on a proven name and so that is why this deal could happen.

The striker has impressed for Malaga this season and could be set for a move.

Mauro Icardi

Icardi is a very good player, but with Inter Milan playing well below where they should be, he may be tempted to move on and excel somewhere else.

He’s certainly got reason to move given his relationship with the fans of the Serie A side is poor and Spurs must be thinking they could profit from it all.

If Inter continue to struggle they could be set for a mass clear out in January, with Icardi leading it.

Alvaro Morata

Morata will enter his prime in the next few years so he needs to be playing to make use of that but isn’t a Real Madrid.

Whilst he’s made double figures in terms of appearances for Los Blancos most of them have come from the bench and so he must be getting frustrated with life in the Spanish capital.

He’s good enough to play for most sides and would give Spurs some more proven quality up top.

M’Baye Niang

Spurs and Pochettino might feel, though, that a different kind of forward is needed up top and that is where Niang comes in.

He’s got bags of power and pace up top whilst he knows where the goal is and would allow Spurs to get in behind teams more.

Kane is top drawer but he’s not going to burn away from defenders and so if the Lilywhites want that in their side to mix things up, AC Milan is where they should be looking.
