Surely these 2 Aston Villa men really are facing a summer transfer exit

Share

Aston Villa fans here in the Tavern are over the moon after the weekend’s victory against league leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers, as the Villains closed the gap on Cardiff City in second place.

Steve Bruce had the perfect game plan in place for the visit of Wolves at the weekend, as Villa inflicted an emphatic 4-1 defeat on their local rivals after an inspired performance from the claret and blue. Indeed, goals from Albert Adomah, Birkir Bjarnason, Lewis Grabban and James Chester sealed the points for the Villains, as the league leaders were left helpless at Villa Park.

However, the summer transfer window will be something that the Villa chief already has his eyes on, as a number of players continue to play no part in the successful season the club are enjoying. Of course, it’s difficult for Bruce to give players a chance in the midst of a promotion push, with the 57-year-old wanting to ensure consistency from here on in.

Therefore, here’s a look at TWO Aston Villa players that will surely be heading for the exits in the summer transfer window…

Birkir Bjarnason

The Icelandic international was signed in January of last year from Swiss side FC Basel as a highly-rated midfielder, but many of our locals are beginning to question what all the fuss was about having witnessed his efforts thus far.

Indeed, the 29-year-old has been largely used as a rotation player under Steve Bruce so far this season, with the likes of Robert Snodgrass, Albert Adomah and Jack Grealish all ahead of him in the pecking order.

Therefore, with only eleven starts made by the midfielder in the current campaign, a summer transfer window exit seems likely after already looking for a new home in January.

Henri Lansbury

Henri Lansbury was one of the hottest Championship topics during his time at Nottingham Forest, but has struggled to secure a permanent place in the Villa starting XI since making the move as he continues to stagnate.

Indeed, the Englishman has made just nine appearances in all competitions for the Villains, and earned nine minutes in their victory over Wolves at the weekend in what was his first Championship minutes since December.

Therefore, the midfielder will inevitably leave the club during the summer transfer window, having become heavily out of favour under Steve Bruce over the course of the current campaign.
