Everton fans here in the Tavern are less than pleased with the consistency displayed by their side, as many have put the blame down to managerial issues.
Seeing Sam Allardyce take over at Goodison Park was an appointment that greeted Everton with immediate reward, as the Toffees’ early season relegation troubles looked to be a thing of the past. However, it’s generally been a season to forget for many of our local residents here in the Tavern, with the remainder of the Blues’ campaign offering very little incentive and reward.
Indeed, a mixture of Sam Allardyce’s decision-making and some of the club’s players not being able to live up to expectations has caused for troubling times, with some notable changes needed to be made in the summer months.
Therefore, Everton appear to have already seen enough of their current ruler at Goodison Park, with the Blues reportedly eyeing a swoop for Shakhtar Donetsk manager Paulo Fonseca in the summer. One of Europe’s most promising managers who’s won three trophies in what is now his second season in Ukraine, he’d be a popular appointment amongst the punters in our bar.
Nevertheless, with the club looking to build the foundations for a successful future on Merseyside, these are TWO flops that could follow Sam Allardyce out of the door in the summer…
Sandro Ramirez
The Spaniard joined the English top-flight as a striker that the club was in desperate need of at the time, with the 22-year-old bringing hopes and dreams of replicating his impressive goalscoring record at Goodison Park.
However, the striker’s time in the Premier League was to be very short-lived, as Everton soon shipped him off on loan to Spanish side Seville. Indeed, a move that’d been brought about by the young man’s lack of potency in front of goal, after only managing to produce one goal in his opening stint with the Toffees.
Nevertheless, after being brought to the club as the primary striker for their current campaign in the Premier League, to see him shipped off elsewhere in January just goes to show that an exit in the summer is inevitable for this flop.
Davy Klaassen
The midfielder arrived in England as one of most exciting talents in Dutch football from his stint at Ajax, after being signed with the hope that he can be a quality asset to help achieve this season’s targets.
However, the Dutchman has only managed to make 13 appearances for the Blues so far this season, during which he’s provided a pretty disappointing one assist. Of course, this is something that’s caused for him to float in-and-out of the Everton side, as he still works tirelessly to live up to the hefty £23.6 million price tag paid by the club.
Nevertheless, a player that has been overlooked by many of our local residents here in the Tavern, so, therefore, he’s surely a man who Everton will look to cash in on while they still can in the summer.
