Michael Owen
In one of the most left-field transfer moves we saw during Fergie’s time at the United helm, the decision to bring Michael Owen to Old Trafford really shook the footballing world.
Of course, he was the man that was worshipped on Merseyside like Cantona was in Manchester. Some called him a traitor, whilst some simply got on with it.
He didn’t have the strongest spell at the club but his arrival in the first place was pretty shocking all the same.
Eric Cantona
The fact Eric Cantona wasn’t even considered as a first-choice signing back in 1992 is truly shocking. It’s well documented that the Red Devils were looking to bring Dennis Irwin to Old Trafford and when they were rebuffed, Cantona’s name was scrawled on scrap paper in a desperate attempt to get a deal done.
There’s little that needs to be said about the £1.2million man apart from the rest was history. Shocking, amusing – all of what we came to expect from the iconic forward.
Radamel Falcao
To say Radamel Falcao’s transfer to Manchester United back in 2014 might have been one of the most talked about deals ever in English football might be an understatement.
The one-year loan, which turned out to be a real disaster, shocked the English footballing world, who just couldn’t get their heads around the signing of a man who in recent years, just hadn’t been very good.
It was Louis Van Gaal’s decision and throughout the whole season, the Colombian netted just four times. Wow.
