Another weekend of Premier League action has passed here in the Transfer Tavern and that means another week filled with our Sunderland fans feeling glum.

You have to feel for them in all honesty.

Every season they are full of optimism that the campaign can’t be as bad as the last, usually because they’ve somehow finished it strongly, before realising it is going to be as bad and that’s the case once again in 2016/17.

David Moyes has come into the north east club tasked with adding stability and building a side capable of challenging for higher than 17th place, yet it appears to be going wrong once again.

The Black Cats are yet to win a game this season and are beginning to get cut adrift in being five points away from safety, and seriously face dropping down to the Championship.

Our landlord reckons it’s time for Moyes to get the chop, then, if the club have any designs on sticking around in the top flight past this season and here are THREE reasons why…

 Poor form

This is the most obvious reason.

Sunderland have not won a game and they have only drawn two of the nine they’ve played so far which makes for pretty abject reading.

They don’t really look like scoring despite with Jermain Defoe doing his best whilst defensively they look suspect.

They’ve come close to grabbing more points than they have but they lack the mental strength to do it right now and Moyes is part of the blame for that.

Moyes seems past it

Ever since he left Everton David Moyes has struggled to adapt to a new job.

The Scot of course moved to Manchester United where things fell apart for him and it looks as though he still hasn’t quite found what he had that got him that job in the first place.

Both manager and club look out of ideas already at this point of the season and that is no good for a side that desperately need an injection of something.

 Other clubs are beginning to act

The likes of Steve Bruce, a manager you’d expect Sunderland to have been interested in having, are beginning to get snapped up by other struggling sides so if they are to sack Moyes, they need to act now.

Leaving it too late could see them ending up with a manager that is no good for them and that would just create more problems than they have currently with Moyes in charge.
