It has been a season to remember for the Tottenham Hotspur supporting punters here in the Transfer Tavern, with the majority of the campaign spent on a charge towards the Premier League title.
A place in the top four would have been a respectable finish at the start of the campaign for their ardent supporter in the Tavern but Mauricio Pochettino has improved his stock as a Premier League manager, by guiding the club towards silverware.
With Leicester City currently seven points clear at the top of the league with six games remaining, the chances of Spurs now catching their rivals looks increasingly slim, and talk among their supporters in the Tavern has turned towards the periods which have cost the team the chance to lift the title.
This also got our writer Lee Clarke thinking and he took a look back at the THREE worst moments of Tottenham Hotspur’s 2015/16 campaign…..

Tottenham Hotspur 1 – 2 Newcastle United
This was arguably the single worst moment of Spurs’ season so far, and I can’t help but feel Mauricio Pochettino will look back on this result as being a big part in his side not winning the title.
Spurs were cruising at the break thanks to a goal from England international Eric Dier and against a poor Magpies side, managed by Steve McClaren, they were expected to seal a crucial three points.
A disastrous second half saw Aleksandar Mitrovic and Ayoze Perez secure an invaluable victory for the visitors and four months down the line, leaving Spurs wondering what if?
FA Cup misery at the hands of Crystal Palace
Admittedly Spurs have had bigger fish to fry than the FA Cup during the current campaign, but losing at home to Crystal Palace was an absolute mess of a result for Spurs.
Mauricio Pochettino is getting all of the plaudits for his rejuvenated side at present but the cynics amongst us must realise that he hasn’t actually won anything yet.
The FA Cup would have represented a big chance for Pochettino’s side to get their hands on some silverware, which made the defeat all the more disappointing.
A Martin Kelly goal saw Palace take their place in the quarter final of the competition and after defeating Reading they will now look forward to a Wembley showdown with Waford.
Striker woes during January transfer market
Spurs have one of the best strikers in European football at present in the marvellous Harry Kane, but it is unfair to think that he can solely carry the goal burden at White Hart Lane.
The club are currently seven points behind Leicester City in the race for the Premier League title and on occasions this season the team could have just done with a different option in attack.
Points have been dropped against Arsenal twice, West Ham United away, Liverpool away and not forgetting when they battered the Foxes at home but lost the game 1-0.
I can’t help but feel had Spurs had a little bit more in attack when chasing games during the campaign, they might currently sit a little close to Leicester in the race for the title.
