Our Middlesbrough fans here in the Transfer Tavern really haven’t had much to celebrate of late this season and things have just taken a turn for the worse.
The men from the Riverside have been in poor form for some time and have really struggled in front of goal – leaving them right in the relegation battle and, now, without a manager.
It’s been confirmed today by the club that Aitor Karanka has been sacked by the club and now work must be done to get a replacement in before the club fall apart in the league.
Indeed, it’s unlikely they’ll get someone in before their clash with Manchester United this weekend and so our landlord is beginning to fear for the club’s safety.
Whoever comes in will need to sort their goal-scoring issue whilst they’ll also do well to earn the same rapport with the fans as Karanka has – suggested by the reaction on Twitter.
Here, then, is some of the best of what’s been said in light of the dismissal…
Aitor Karanka has left Middlesbrough Football Club by mutual consent after a run of 10 Premier League games without a win.
