The Spurs fans here in the Transfer Tavern absolutely can’t get enough of their strike force at the moment.
Although Harry Kane is injured he is still regarded as one of the best forwards in the country and arguably the world whilst the likes of Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela all chip in with important goals.
Then, this season, we’ve seen Heung-Min Son emerge as another key player for the club going forward with his pace and trickery, and he has to be applauded for the way he has worked on his game since last season.
You have to credit Mauricio Pochettino, too, for the way he has shaped his side into one of the most formidable around with the way they get forward and force the opposition into mistakes, it really is a joy to watch.
It hasn’t always been like that though as our landlord well remembers.
Here, then, is the worst front THREE in the history of Spurs…
Helder Postiga
Glenn Hoddle what were you thinking? In fairness to the now BT Sport pundit Hoddle, like many thought that Postiga was going to be the next brilliant Portuguese forward to come out of the country.
He was meant to follow in the footsteps of Pauleta and Hugo Almeida but instead he, like Hoddle, was soon shown the door after his arrival – our locals love bringing this one up.
Roberto Soldado
Affectionately known as Bobby Soldier by the Spurs fans here in the Transfer Tavern and around the country, the Spaniard just couldn’t turn that love into confidence and goals.
It feels almost mean to put him in this list because he did give it his all but our landlord is ruthless and, based on the stats, Soldado was terrible – there can be no escaping from that.
Mido
The Egyptian was nothing short of woeful. Our landlord remembers watching the Spurs fans hurl abuse at him week in week out when he played for the club – if you can call it playing.
He talked a good game but never followed it up and put absolutely no effort in to his game. A complete waste of time, money and shirt material. Fans were delighted when he went.
