The Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are loving watching Arsenal this season, as Arsene Wenger’s slick and quick football takes hold at the Emirates.
After a few seasons of mediocrity, the Gunners look set to play a real role in the title race this season; and the excitement amongst the Arsenal punters is palpable.
Arsenal look like a good side right now, but they are far from the complete article. There are undoubtedly a few positions that could do with a bit of reinforcement – and those changes could take Arsenal to the next level.
With that said, these 2 January signings would take Arsenal to the next level…
Jose Gimenez
Defensively, Arsenal have been solid this season – but there is always room for improvement.
Wenger has found his central defensive duo in Koscielny and Mustafi – but an over-reliance on just 2 defenders could prove detrimental long term.
All it would take is an injury to either player and Arsenal would be forced to use Gabriel and Mertesacker – and they are both undoubtedly worse than the men they would replace.
Jose Gimenez could prove to be an excellent option in January, with the 21-year-old serving as a long-term solution to Arsenal’s defensive woes.
What’s more, Koscielny is now 31-years-old – and Wenger needs to start looking toward the future.
Gimenez would be a great option.
Alexandre Lacazette
Olivier Giroud has lost his place to Alexis Sanchez this season – and that says it all about Arsenal’s lack of offensive depth.
Lucas Perez is struggling in the Premier League, and Sanchez has been forced to move out of his more natural position on the wing – meaning that Wenger must look to sign a new striker in January.
Lacazette has been in incredible form in France this season, and would be a perfect option for Wenger.
He has scored an unbelievable 10 league goals already – and if he can bring that sort of form of the Emirates – a title challenge will undoubtedly beckon.
