At last! Sunderland won a Premier League game last weekend and our local Black Cats fans here in the Transfer Tavern were almost beside themselves with relief and joy at the three points.

After struggling for weeks since the start of the season under David Moyes and also coming close to wins at times, too, the north east side finally saw a win through against Bournemouth on Saturday.

It prevented an unwanted record of the club having the worst start of any Premier League side in history, and you could see the sheer weight lifted off the players’ shoulders by full time.

Now, though, the club really need to kick on and prove themselves to be Premier League worthy after such a poor start, and our landlord reckons signing these TWO players in January would help them reach that next level…

Anthony Knockaert

Knockaert is one of the best players outside of the Premier League in this country and deserves a proper shot at the big time with a club.

That could turn out to be with Brighton if the Seagulls ever get themselves over the promotion line but if the Black Cats come calling he may feel it’s a better chance of playing in the big time.

Sunderland have work to do but with Knockaert things would become a lot easier.

Domagoj Vida

Our resident Sunderland fans here in the Transfer Tavern are worried that their best defender, Lamine Kone, could be out of the door in the near future and so want to see the club make a move for a like for like player.

Certainly, Vida has the CV to suggest he can more than make up for the gap Kone would leave with experience in the Champions League and Europa League as well as at EURO 2016 with Croatia.
