West Ham United fans here in the Tavern are still yet to get over the disappointment of defeat against Liverpool, as the Hammers now face the possibility of relegation to the Championship.
Indeed, David Moyes has already managed to produce some brilliant results as Slaven Bilic’s successor, but Premier League survival is still a huge worry for many of our local residents. Although, the Hammers now head into arguably the most crucial couple of weeks in their season, with games against fellow relegation scrappers Swansea City and Southampton possibly deciding their fate.
But, Moyes will have strong beliefs that his West Ham United side can escape the dreaded clutches of relegation, as summer transfer window business becomes the next challenge for the 54-year-old to encounter. And, it appears as if a central defender is required for the claret and blue, as the second worst defensive team in the top-flight. Indeed, according to reports, the Hammers want to sign Jonny Evans for £3 million at the end of the season.
The Northern-Irish international has been a revelation for the Midlands outfit so far this season, as their best hope of ensuring Premier League survival at the Hawthorns. And, bringing him to the London Stadium will be sure to bolster the Hammers’ defensive ranks, but they could face competition as the defender has attracted interest from the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal in the past.

The defensive midfielder has earned a huge reputation during his time in Belgium, as one of the most promising players currently plying their trade in the Belgian First Division A.
Indeed, the 6ft2in powerhouse has been the standout player for current club Anderlecht so far this season, as he looks to pull the strings and overpower fellow midfielders in the middle of the park. And, the 22-year-old has already managed to rack up 130 appearances at club level, along with earning two full international caps for the Belgian national side.
It was believed that the Hammers attempted to acquire the services of the midfielder in the January transfer window, but nothing came of their interest in the young man. Although, a move in the summer could reward the London club massively, with Leander Dendoncker’s services needed to smooth over any underlying defensive issues in the side.
Bernard Mensah
The 23-year-old attacker is currently playing his football for Kasimpasa in the Turkish League, after being sent out on loan from parent club Atletico Madrid. And, it’s fair to say that the Ghanaian has enjoyed a successful season thus far, having manufactured three goals and six assists for his current side.
Bernard Mensah operates in an attacking midfield role just behind the striker, and has earned his praise for the electrifying pace and incredible skill that he displays. Indeed, he could definitely bring his quality to the Premier League, having established himself as one of the standout performers in the Turkish top-flight.
The Hammers previously looked at signing Mensah back in 2015 during his time in Portugal, but the London club could now attempt to resubmit their interest in the attacker with Atletico Madrid taking a look at Reece Oxford.
