At the start of the season, the Stoke City fans in the Transfer Tavern were expecting a tough campaign…

Mark Hughes has had a mixed spell as manager in recent years, and whilst he had done a marvellous job in transforming Stoke since his arrival – there was a serious air of concern amongst the Potters in the Tavern.

Nonetheless, Hughes has defied expectation – and his Stoke City side currently sit 9th in the Premier League, with Premier League safety looking more than assured.

With the pressure off somewhat, Hughes will no doubt already be looking towards January and the re-opening of the transfer market – and our landlord thinks it’s safe to assume that the Potters will be doing a fair bit of business in the new year.

However, whilst much of the focus will likely be placed upon incoming talent – the Stoke City fans in the Tavern are hoping to see a few short-term departures too – with a number of Stoke’s young talent deserving of a spell on loan.

With that said, these 2 Stoke City players should plead Hughes for a loan move away in January

Eddy Lecygne

Eddie Lecygne enjoyed a decent 1-month loan spell with Doncaster Rovers last season – but it is time for the young French midfielder to make a more long-term loan move away.

He has yet to feature in Mark Hughes’ plans this season, and in truth – that l0oks unlikely to change.

Young players need to experience life away from their parent club, and a loan move is the perfect way to do that.

At 20-years-old, Lecygne is running out of time to make a real impact. He needs to make it happen this season.

Ramadan Sobhi

 

Ramadan Sobhi joined Stoke in the summer, and to be fair – he has played a fair bit this season.

He has made 5 Premier League appearances, and looked fairly good in the process – but it is time for the 19-year-old to take it up a notch.

He has got a taste of life in England, and now he needs to go away for 6 months to fully acclimatise to the English style, whilst also continuing his development with regular game time.

This move makes sense for both parties, and Hughes will surely agree.
