These 2 Sunderland players need to ask Moyes for more minutes on the pitch

It was yet another defeat for Sunderland last weekend as they were crushed 4-1 by Burnley at Turf Moor- much to the horror of their supporters here in the Tavern!

In a display that showed just how bad the Black Cats have been this season, David Moyes’ side were comfortably overcome by the Clarets, who despite little investment continue to pick up results.

Defensive lapses, lack of an attacking edge and quite simply not enough hard work were the factors behind the defeat and the need for change at the Stadium of Light is becoming more and more apparent week-after-week.

But big additions in the transfer window aren’t going to be a theme for Sunderland this January, who have nowhere near as much money to spend as some of their rivals around them, again, to the horror of their supporters who are growing very frustrated indeed.

So with that in mind, Moyes may have to rely on other players in the Sunderland squad and we think there are some players who could do better in the first-team than some of the current players.

Here’s 2 Black Cats players that we think need to ask Moyes for more minutes on the pitch…

Wahbi Khazri

He’s not been part of David Moyes’s first-team for most of the campaign but with the goals still not going in, the time to introduce Wahbi Khazri back into the senior side might be increasing by the week.

He’s not everyone’s cup of tea and should be arguably scoring more goals than he does but when it comes to adding something different, he could be a real surprise package for the Black Cats.

He’s hard working, decent in the air and can bring his team-mates into the game too. A controversial shout but with Sunderland struggling so much, any suggestions down at the Stadium of Light seem to be welcome right now.

Lynden Gooch

He’s the American wonderkid who has been promised to be a real star for the Black Cats but time-after-time, he’s struggling to make the matchday XI at the Stadium of Light.

It’s clear some of the more senior figures in this side aren’t up to the battle and some of our punters in the pub are wondering why Moyes doesn’t just bite the bullet and throw Gooch into the equation even as a last resort.

He’s a talented young man who should probably be more involved in this side right now than he currently is.
