These 2 Tottenham players are fighting for their places ahead of the Watford game today – agreed?

The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern have been distraught with their side’s recent Premier League form. After a strong start to the campaign, they’ve really struggled in recent weeks, and they now find themselves outside of the top four. It’s been quite the fall from grace, and it’s tough to pinpoint the issues.

Fixture congestion is building up, and that could be an issue, and Mauricio Pochettino must also take part of the blame for a few tactical decisions. The buck stops, however, with the players on the pitch, many of whom simply have not been good enough.

Though individual performances are what have propelled Tottenham up the table in recent years, they haven’t had such luck this season, and a few performers have been really struggling. If their form doesn’t improve, it could have big consequences for both them and their club.

With that said, these 2 Tottenham players are fighting for their places ahead of Watford game today – agreed?

Dele Alli

Dele Alli is one of England’s most talented players, but he just hasn’t been at it this season.

Last season he was a pillar of strength for Tottenham. Providing goals, energy and incredible technique, his influence was absolutely huge.

However, this season, much of that has gone. He has popped up with the odd goal here and there, but he provides nothing like the consistency that he enjoyed last season.

That’s a big problem for Tottenham, and Pochettino will be concerned. If his form doesn’t pick up, especially with Erik Lamela now back, his position could be under threat.

Eric Dier

It’s a similar tale for Eric Dier.

Dier was a stalwart in the Tottenham midfield last season, with Pochettino utilising him frequently. He’s enjoyed a similar level of involvement this term, but he’s hardly been deserving of it.

He’s lacked the edge and bite that separated him from a few of the other top midfielders in the Premier League, and that’s a problem for Mauricio Pochettino.

Fortunately, with so much depth, he can drop midfielders if they aren’t performing. Dier is in real danger of dropping down to the bench.
