The Lilywhites have enjoyed a stellar start to the season so far, and Mauricio Pochettino’s men are almost certainly heading for a title challenge this season.
In recent years, the Argentine has made his name by bringing the best out of a relatively limited squad; but this year represents the first real opportunity to manage a developed group of Premier League players that are able to challenge at the highest level.
A huge part of that process goes beyond the first team, and Mauricio Pochettino must ensure that he is focusing on everyone – even if they aren’t in the first team.
Several players have been receiving markedly less game time in recent weeks – and appear to have dropped off the radar somewhat, and Pochettino can’t allow that to happen.
With that said, these TWO Tottenham players need a lot more love under Pochettino
Eric Dier
Eric Dier was, arguably, Tottenham’s most important player last season – after a series of impressive performance won him a role in the heart of the midfield.
However, with the arrival of Victor Wanyama this season; he appears to have lost his place in the team somewhat. The mighty Kenyan has settled into life in London well, and given that he shares a position with Dier – it is the young Englishman that is missing out at the moment.
In reality, however, Dier has done nothing to warrant being dropped – and after his fine performances for England at EURO 2016, there has been an argument in the Tavern that he is more essential now than ever before.
Undoubtedly, Dier is one of England’s brightest young talents – and Pochettino must be sure that his head does not drop. He will be back in the Tottenham first team eventually, no doubt, but until then – Poch needs to show him some love.
Ben Davies
Ben Davies has always been a bit-part player at White Hart Lane, and it’s time that something changes.
The young Welshman is good enough – he proved that with his country over the summer, and he deserves to be given the opportunity to transition that to the Premier League.
Granted, Tottenham’s back four has been near unstoppable so far this season – but the addition of Davies into the mix can only mean good things.
If Pochettino doesn’t give him a chance; it appears likely that a departure could be on the cards.
