Things haven’t gone to plan at West Ham this season, despite heavy investment in the summer, and they find themselves languishing in the lower half of the Premier League table.
Of course, money doesn’t guarantee success. But it certainly helps. And there will be a few players in that squad who feel like they could be doing better for themselves elsewhere, either because they aren’t getting the playtime they deserve or because they are operating at a far greater standard than the rest of the team.
With that in mind, here are two disgruntled West Ham who look like they’ve got their heart set on a 2019 exit…
Marko Arnautovic
Arnautovic definitely falls in the latter category as he’s easily been West Ham’s best players so far this term.
The big Austrian has been feeding on scraps since the start of the season but has somehow managed to accumulate 5 goals in 11 games.
His performances have already caught the eye of Chelsea and Manchester United, who have both been linked with the player to solve their forward problems.
The Metro reported on Wednesday that Arnautovic’s agent is well aware of the interest from Stamford Bridge, and the rumours that the player wants to leave West Ham were later corroborated by his brother who stated: “It’s not that he really wants to leave, but we believe this is the moment in his career when he has to take a step forward and try to win a few trophies, maybe even the Champions League,” (as per Gianlucadimazio).
Michail Antonio
Michail Antonio’s career has hit a big decline since his glory days under Slaven Bilic.
He’s seen his minutes reduced drastically since the arrival of record signing Felipe Anderson, and the very little time that he does get on the pitch, usually off the bench, is spent divided between himself and want-away Lucas Perez.
Fans have noticed the gaps in his technical ability, and his physical game, although strong, isn’t exactly what West Ham need at the moment.
We can very easily see Antonio moving on in the near future to try to secure more first-team minutes under his belt.
