The Tottenham fans in the Football Transfer Tavern don’t think some of their players are good enough…

Tottenham have impressed over the last few months, offering a title challenge last season, and they have begun the 2016/17 season well.

The London giants have spent the last few weeks ensuring the long-term futures of their best players will be at White Hart Lane – but the job is not yet done for Mauricio Pochettino.

The Tottenham fans in the Tavern think that whilst keeping the most important players is an important step; it is equally important to ensure that the weakest links in the squad are moved on.

With that said, there are a number of Tottenham players that are, at present, simply not good enough for the Premier League – and need to take the step down to the Championship.

As a result, our landlord thinks that these THREE Spurs players should really be playing in the Championship…

Harry Winks

The Tottenham fans in the Football Transfer Tavern were delighted when Harry Winks signed a new deal recently – but he is not yet ready for the Premier League.

The youngster has made just one league appearance for the Lilywhites so far – and given the competition in the heart of Tottenham’s side, that likely won’t change this season.

A season in the Championship would give Winks an idea of what it will take to compete at the highest level in England – and that is exactly what he needs.

Tom Carroll

Whilst Harry Winks’ contract extension was greeted with cheers in the Football Transfer Tavern, the reaction to the extension of Tom Carroll’s deal was markedly more silent in the Tavern.

The English midfielder has failed to find a real role in the Tottenham first team, and whilst Spurs are improving every week – Carroll shows no signs of the same.

His recent contract renewal means that a loan is most likely – as there is definitely some talent there; but he just isn’t good enough at the moment. Though our landlord thinks that a sale should actually be considered…

A step down could do him wonders.

Josh Onomah

This would definitely be a loan move, as young Josh Onomah looks set to be a real star.

He has started breaking into the Tottenham first team as of late, but at 19 years old – the reality is that he needs weekly game time.

The Championship would represent a real opportunity for Onomah to build a career ahead of a Tottenham return – and the Spurs fans in the Tavern would love to see him back in a Spurs shirt next season…
