The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are loving life at the moment. They’re on the back of a big win in the North London derby, and their Champions League run is ongoing too. 

Indeed, Mauricio Pochettino has really got his side playing well, and they’re undoubtedly on course for a big rise in significance in the Premier League.

However, whilst the last few years have been about sustained growth for Spurs, they are not yet at their peak. Indeed, a few major improvements are still needed if Mauricio Pochettino wants to take his team to the next level. At this point, the next level is, naturally, winning a major trophy and ensuring sustained success.

Change is needed, be that in the form of personnel changes or, indeed, changes off the field. If a few things are altered at Tottenham, we could be looking at the Premier League’s next dominant force.

With that said, here are 3 things that could help take Tottenham to the next level…

 Harry Winks

Harry Winks is the future of the Tottenham midfield.

Mauricio Pochettino has done a masterful job of developing him and ensuring that he maximises his talent, but it’s time for him to go to the next level.

The Englishman has everything; class, composure, quality, and he’s humble enough to know his role within the squad.

That being said, now is the time for him to make the most of that talent and become a Spurs regular every single week. Pochettino will get his reward thereafter.

 Depth Beyond Harry Kane

This is a big problem for Tottenham. Without a doubt, the main drawback in their squad is a lack of depth beyond Harry Kane.

Of course, he’s a top forward, and he’s crucial to Spurs’ long and short-term prospects, but he can’t do it by himself.

Fernando Llorente hasn’t had the desired impact in North London yet, and with games coming thick and fast, Pochettino needs to find another option.

Kane can’t play 90 minutes twice a week. He needs a back-up, and desperately.

 Longevity

Mauricio Pochettino’s future needs to be secured.

There’s no suggestion that he’s set to leave the club, but there is an air of uncertainty about what would happen if a team like Real Madrid came in for him.

Tottenham need to ensure that, no matter what, the Argentine remains in charge. He’s making strides currently, but that will be meaningless if he departs in a year or two.

Again, a departure doesn’t look imminent, but the threat of that is over Daniel Levy’s head, and so a new deal must come his way.
