Newcastle United fans here in the Transfer Tavern are looking for a change of fortune, as their beloved Magpies look to be slipping towards the relegation zone. Rafa Benitez’s side have looked less than convincing since making a positive start to the current campaign, after going nine-games without a win spelt trouble on Tyneside.
However, having gone unbeaten in their last three Premier League games it looks as if the Toon Army are on the up, despite some obvious limitations. Although with their next encounter against leaders Manchester City fast approaching, they’ll be hoping they can do the impossible to keep their streak alive.
In a side that has had their fair share of criticism so far this season, Rafa Benitez will be looking to bolster their ranks with some much-needed reinforcements. As the likes of Joselu and Javier Manquillo look to be running on empty, the need for a striker and a defender takes priority in the transfer window business.
Indeed, it looks as if Rafa Benitez will turn to Mike Ashley to allow the Spaniard to bring in a fellow countryman, and former client in Pepe Reina after being linked with a move to Tyneside.
The 35-year-old has become the first-choice keeper for Italian giants Napoli so far this season, on his way to keeping nine clean-sheets in the process.
But, with a possible reunion with a previous gaffer of Reina’s from his time at Liverpool, it looks as if the World Cup winner could be making a return to the Premier League.
Nevertheless, here’s a look at TWO players who could just follow Pepe Reina to Tyneside this window…
Pape Souare

The Crystal Palace left-back has been hugely out-of-favour so far this season, with only three appearances in all competitions being made.
Indeed, with Patrick Van Aanholt taking up the primary position at left-back for the Eagles, it’s left Pape Souare playing second fiddle in the side.
Although, Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing the defender on loan, according to reports.
In a position that currently has the ineffective Javier Manquillo as their favoured left-back, the signing of another full-back would work wonders for the Toon Army.
Vincent Aboubakar

Vincent Aboubakar has established himself as one of the most prolific strikers in Portugal, having scored 25 goals in 29 appearances so far this season, with five of these coming in the Champions League.
Although, there has currently been no official approach made for the Porto star. But after the incredible season the 25-year-old has enjoyed thus far, there’d be no surprise if Premier League clubs came calling.
In a position that currently only holds the heavily criticised Joselu, the addition of another striker is turning into a must for the Magpies, and Vincent Aboubakar may just be the cure to all their attacking woes.
