Thinking ahead: 2 possible replacements for Andy Carroll at West Ham United

West Ham United have began recovering from their early-season wobble and things are looking a lot brighter under Slaven Bilic.

Much to the delight of the Hammers fans here in the Tavern, people are now beginning to get over the Dimitri Payet saga and things are looking a lot better in East London as the rest of the season awaits.

They’ve got a tough run of games on the horizon and it’s vital that the big players in their squad really begin to step up if they are to achieve any sort of success this campaign.

And one man that has certainly been hot and cold this season is Andy Carroll, who has enjoyed periods of good form and as always, spells on the sidelines.

Fans like him when he’s playing well but his injury troubles always seem to get in the way.

And with the big striker being linked with a move away, our landlord here in the Tavern has decided to take a look ahead to the summer.

Here’s TWO possible replacements for Carroll at West Ham if they do change things in the summer….

Salomon Rondon

West Brom striker Salomon Rondon hasn’t had his strongest season, but he’s the sort of player that, when in form, can be lethal in any forward line at this level.

West Ham are calling out for a consistent striker who can bag goals at the top level week-in, week-out and Rondon is certainly a player who might fit the bill at the London Stadium if the Hammers do make a move.

West Ham fans here in the Tavern would like to see him move to the club but he’s not going to be cheap if they do press forward with a transfer.

Chris Wood

Championship hotshot Chris Wood has more than proved he’s got goals in him this campaign and he’s justified a move to the top level, especially if Leeds aren’t promoted come the end of the campaign.

He’s already hit more than 20 strikes this campaign and he’s quickly turned into one of the Championship’s most respectable goalscorers.

Some of the Hammers contingent here in the pub are slightly wary whether he’s good enough to make the step up to the top flight, but he’d surely be worth the risk if they did have a go.
