The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern have spent the last day or two discussing reports linking their side with a move for Geoffrey Kondogbia. Sky Sports are reporting that they could move for the Frenchman, who currently plays for Valencia on loan from Inter Milan, and our landlord thinks that it would be a fantastic deal for the Lilywhites.
A powerful defensive midfielder, Kondogbia is undoubtedly one of Europe’s most impressive players in the role. Providing relentless energy alongside strong tackling, he would serve as another line of defence within the Spurs midfield, and that could be exactly what they need. When you add in his fantastic range of passing and his ability to both provide and score goals, the Frenchman becomes a very useful option in the middle of the park.
At 24-years-old, he’s also the prime age for both development and sustained quality in the midfield. He’s got a lot of years behind him, and more importantly, he has his best years ahead of him, and that makes him the perfect player to sign, especially at Tottenham. Mauricio Pochettino has had a lot of success with players around his age in recent years, and Kondogbia could be another success story.
With Mousa Dembele approaching the end of his career, Tottenham need to start thinking about replacements, and they would seriously struggle to do better than Kondogbia – agreed?
