It’s been a long night of celebration for the Everton fans propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern after they watched their side absolutely thump Manchester City at Goodison Park. 

In many ways, the 4-0 win over Pep Guardiola’s not-so-slick City was a distinct highlight of their season so far as Ronald Koeman’s first season in charge of the Toffees reaches another high point.

It’s been a bizarre campaign for the Dutchman since joining from Southampton with a strong start to life in the Premier League followed up by some frankly dreadful form and performances on the whole in the latter stages of 2016.

After promises of big investment over the course of the summer, Koeman’s open criticism of the club’s transfer policy hinted at troubles behind the scenes amid their regime already. Still, since his comments, they’ve welcomed the likes of Morgan Schneiderlin to Merseyside.

Not only has the Frenchman touched down at Everton, but two of the heroes from the thumping of City brought a new energy to the side.

With that in mind, here are THREE talents at Goodison Park to save both Ronald Koeman and Farhad Moshiri an awful lot of money.

Tom Davies

The 18-year-old academy graduate was an absolute delight to watch yesterday as he drove at a hapless City side. Not only did the midfielder show the sort of head-down enthusiasm and powerful running you’d expect of a youngster looking to impress, his goal showed the amount of class he boasts on the ball.

Fancy flicks and a deft chip were also prevalent in his play and perhaps he could take the pressure off of Ross Barkley at Goodison.

Ademola Lookman

A big money signing for a young forward playing in League One, the 19-year-old made a stunning debut against City by pouncing on a John Stones mistake before a lethal finish.

Still, as lucky as his break was, his finish was that of a striker wise beyond his years. What was evident of Lookman during his time at Charlton was the fact he rarely makes the wrong decision (for a player of his age) in the final third.

A long-term replacement for Romelu Lukaku?

Mason Holgate

Another to have played yesterday, Mason Holgate’s comfort on the ball and his sound reading of the game (particularly for a 20-year-old) has allowed Koeman to switch to a three-man central defence.

The former Barnsley man could perhaps follow in the footsteps of John Stones one day and will surely learn a lot while playing with veterans such as Phil Jagielka and Ashley Williams.
