Top-class striker responds to reported Arsenal interest

Football Soccer - Italy v Germany- International Friendly Match

Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have all their fingers and toes crossed for a huge signing this month, although history suggests it’s unlikely.

Arsene Wenger has often been reluctant to splash the cash in the mid-season transfer window, which made it a huge surprise last week when reports surfaced of a staggering £56m bid for Torino’s Andrea Belotti.

Whilst Arsenal moved quickly to deny a bid for the Italian was made, speculation regarding the future of the 23-year-old striker continues to flood the back pages of sport pages across Europe.

Such a high figure for a young striker certainly raised some eyebrows but the player himself is not letting the reports go to his head. Speaking to Tuttosport, he said:

‘I have to continue like this, I cannot let it go to my head. I always have to work, I hope to play a good 2017 to conquer my dreams.’

Belotti has a fine record in Italian football and has netted 25 goals in 51 league appearances since joining the club in 2015, whilst also finding the back of the net three times in just five international caps for Italy.

However, our landlord believes Belotti will be on the move at some point this calendar year as he feels a player of his class is set for much bigger things.

Is Andrea Belotti the striker that Arsenal need? Let us know in the comments below!
