Tottenham Hotspur’s self-imposed transfer ban has finally had the shackles taken off as they look to improve their squad this summer.
Spurs may have further strengthened their midfield options with the superb acquisition of Tanguy Ndombele and now it seems the club are set on further improvements in that area of the pitch.
Jack Clarke has already been confirmed as a Tottenham player but his development will continue at Leeds United and it seems the Lilywhites have another attacking option on their radar who could be set for a move to the club.
According to a report by Spanish media outlet Mucho Deporte, Dinamo Zagreb’s Dani Olmo is thought to be close to sealing a switch to the Premier League outfit. It is claimed a deal worth around €25million (£22.5m) is close to being agreed.
The 21-year-old has proven to be an exciting young talent who could thrive under Mauricio Pochettino as he would surely fit the youth-based mould the Spurs boss has when it comes down to the types of players he likes to have in his team.
Olmo helped Spain lift the Under-21 European Championship title this summer with a goal in the final against Germany to cap off a wonderful tournament. According to his stats from WhoScored, he finished the competition with three goals and one assist, averaging a total of four shots per match, two key passes and a completion rate of 1.8 dribbles.
Lacking goals from the engine room with only Christian Eriksen reaching double figures from that area of the pitch, the kind of attacking impetus Olmo has previously proved capable of could be a welcome addition.
Those stats may not come as a surprise when taking last season’s figures for Zagreb into account, as he netted 12 goals and provided eight assists in 44 matches across all competitions, including European competitions such as the Champions League and Europa League.
Still a young talent, those figures would suggest he has plenty of quality and all the potential to become a star in the future and it would seem Tottenham could be about to beat some tough competition for his signature.
Also, the attacking midfielder is extremely versatile, as Transfermarkt point out that he can play in a number of different positions across the middle of the pitch.
The attacker is obviously highly-rated as Manchester United are thought to have also made an offer to Zagreb for him (Sportske Novosti via Metro), whilst Barcelona are also believed to have held an interest in him in the past as well (Sport via Sport Witness).
