Loads of Tottenham fans have been piling the praise on Japhet Tanganga, as the young defender shone in just his second appearance for the first-team.
Talk about getting thrown in at the deep end. 20 year-old Tanganga made his first Premier League start against arguably the best front three in world football on Saturday evening, and he certainly impressed.
With Jose Mourinho opting for a back five packed with pace with the likes of Davinson Sanchez also given the nod while Jan Vertonghen was left out, Tanganga justified the manager’s decision almost immediately with an early goal-line clearance.
Although the youngster was caught out by Roberto Firmino’s clever first touch for the decisive goal in the 1-0 defeat, his overall statistics make for impressive reading.
Per Sofascore, Tanganga was the highest rated Tottenham player with a 7.4 out of 10, winning five out of his seven duels and completing two tackles.
He made a whopping eight clearances and was only dribbled past once, despite being given the difficult task of stopping Sadio Mane.
