Tottenham Hotspur fans are well aware of their club’s need for a new central midfielder. At the moment, Mauricio Pochettino has been limping through with a double pivot of Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko, and whilst the pair have been superb, reinforcements are needed, and The Sun are linking the Lilywhites with a move for Andre Gomes.
[@SunSport] understand Tottenham Hotspur could be set to make a summer move for Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes.
Everton did not include a clause in the loan agreement to make their switch permanent for Gomes which potentially opens the door for Spurs this summer.#THFC #COYS pic.twitter.com/WAL7XvIgG9

The Toffees would be absolutely livid if they were to lose out on Gomes after his incredibly successful first season so far, however, his efforts in the middle of the Goodison Park pitch haven’t entirely convinced Tottenham fans. At the age of 25, the Portuguese midfielder has all the talent he needs, but the North Londoners just aren’t convinced if he has the fight and grit needed to succeed at the top.
If the tidy Barcelona man was to up stakes on a permanent transfer from the Nou Camp, walk straight on by Everton and land himself a Tottenham move then he would certainly bring a lot to the table. Like a more cultured Harry Winks, Gomes can dictate play from a deeper midfield base and does a good job of breaking up play and recycling the ball on further forwards. However, Tottenham fans don’t seem interested in the midfielder, and would rather go for a more high-profile target.

Jesus can’t we ever be linked to top players and not just average

He’s alright. Nothing more than that. Not sure if he would really improve us.

He's slower than big Neil Ruddock was against the Germans this week. no thanks

The Lilywhites don’t seem at all keen on bringing Gomes in, however, when it gets to crunch time and Daniel Levy is picking up players from the bargain bin they’ll be gutted they snubbed the Barca man.
