Whilst Tottenham Hotspur recorded their most important win of the season last night thanks to a much-needed winner from substitute Christian Eriksen, the fans are still complaining. The Lilywhites, despite the elation of winning, weren’t happy with some of their stars, and Ben Davies is one of those who’s felt the full force of the fan base.
Been so critical of him this season but Ben Davies was very solid again tonight. Hope this spell of good form continues.

The Welsh defender often comes in for criticism from Spurs fans. His inability to give any sort of meaningful contribution going forward does make him a frustrating player to watch, especially seeing as he always seems to be afforded that little bit extra space that a player like Christian Eriksen or Dele Alli would die for. After starting tonight and on Saturday, though, a lot of fans believe the returning Danny Rose will be back for Arsenal on Sunday.
That news of Rose could be absolutely huge for the fans. They’re sick of having Davies pick the ball up in space down the left and have his cross either cleared by the first man, go out for a goal kick or float over everyone and out for a throw-in on the other side, seeing as that usually is all that comes of the Welsh defender picking the ball up when he drives down the Lilywhites’ left-hand side.
You can read The Lilywhites’ verdict on Davies here:
Offers absolutely nothing going forward, not good enough for a top level full back.

Sorry, but he wasn’t challenged at all at the back and going forward he was wasteful. Just because he wasn’t bad doesn’t mean he was good.

He’s a standard 6/10 every week defender. Offers very little. Definitely an area we need to improve on

He’s not good enough windy. He has not improved really in the few seasons with us. He’s been “reliable” on few occasions but that’s it. New LB has to be a priority because rose will not hit the heights of 15/16 again

Dunno which Ben Davies you are seeing . The one I saw never beat the first man when attempting a cross, time & again he brings attacks to an end bco his xing is so poor. Even in the 92 min he gave a corner away from 35 yards

I thought his end product was awful. Was on at him all game. Can’t wait for Rose’s return.

The Lilywhites would love to see a new left-back come in, but for now, will just settle to see Danny Rose on Sunday.
