Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern aren’t happy with comments made by Alan Shearer about the club needing to win silverware to avoid the tag of “Premier League nearly men.” Since appointing Mauricio Pochettino back in the summer of 2014 after the club sacked Tim Sherwood, the Argentine has helped Tottenham to 5th, 3rd and 2nd placed finishes in the league whilst also taking the club to a League Cup final and an FA Cup semi-final.
Despite the progress made under Pochettino, pundits and fans alike have had the same criticism for the North London club as when it comes to the games of greater significance the Lilywhites have a reputation for failing to deliver. However with the current season getting into the latter stages and Spurs still fighting in three different competitions, this could be the year that Spurs win their first piece of silverware since the League Cup back in 2008.
The current crop of Spurs players is arguably the strongest that the club has ever had in the Premier League era as during the 2016/17 season Tottenham scored the most goals in the division whilst also conceding the least, a feat never achieved by a side who hasn’t finished 1st.

What about klopp and Liverpool? I’m sick of people banging on about us, when we have been above them for however many years and how far we have come! Shearer does my head in anyway

Corr @alanshearer how did you come up with this? Honestly astounded, never considered this before and im sure no one else has ever mentioned it. Such original and insightful journalism. Surely others in the media should mention this too?
