With transfer deadline day almost here and Tottenham yet to make any signings, it is set to be another window where the north London club have failed to strengthen their squad.
Tottenham, of course, did not bring in a single player last summer and, while they have made an enquiry about Leicester City target Youri Tielemans this time round (Sky Sports), a deal for the AS Monaco midfielder now looks highly unlikely.
According to Het Belang van Limburg (via Sport Witness), in the end, Mauricio Pochettino was not convinced that Tielemans would improve his side, which may come as a surprise to some.
While things have not quite worked out for Tielemans at Monaco, the 21-year-old is still a midfielder with a lot of talent. And given the trouble Tottenham have had in that position this season (e.g. injuries and Mousa Dembele’s departure), it is hard to understand Pochettino’s point of thinking.
Have a look at what Tottenham supporters have had to say on the whole situation below…
How could he not improve Spurs he’s an amazing talent and would be the perfect replacement for Dembele!

Who does poch actually want then? He must have a preference for some players in world football? Spurs should just target those players

So what players is HE actually looking at to improve our team. I’ve seen Poch really want a player in Foyth and he seems to be a real talent. I do trust in him if he says certain players won’t improve our team, but I do believe we’ve let some quality players slip the net.

So he’s not an improvement over Nkoudou? Wanyama?

So he’s no better than Skipp, Wanyama or Lamela. From what I’ve see he is. I’m wondering what’s really happening. #coys
